cognitive benefits of time-space synaesthesia has more details. In time-space synaesthesia there is an experience of units of time (e.g. months) being located outside of the body. In near-death experiences, there is an experience of the person being located outside of their own body. There is a coincidental similarity between these two phenomena, but I wouldn't presume to make any conclusions.
