try first saving all the skin by giving it a name ( suposing that you are talking about an images in private/public skins) even without the all images uploaded.
This Way :

1)Give any name you want to your private skin
2)Upload the image you want in section you want( remember the image only can be 250kb maximum size, and for each section you have limits of widht/height.)
3)then SAVE it.
4) After Saving it, now the Preview is more reliable the before, so now you can try Preview your image, it will appear.
