Don't know about Americans, but the whole world likes to blame the United States. But if any other country would have had an opportunity to do the same thing, would it not have? Americans built a system that enabled them to “use” the whole world. But who wouldn’t want to do the same thing? The United States was successful, and everyone else is offended that it was able to profit using everyone, and not them. So blame yourselves for your failure, rather than them for their success!

One of the repeated stories I hear from returning Americans from abroad is trying to convince people overseas to do it their way, followed by the reply "We don't do it that way! We've never done it that way."

Kind of difficult to do when the US has a history of knocking over governments that don't agree with US policies.
I'm not telling that US always did the right things. I'm just telling blaming is not the way to build the better world. The capitalistic principle, “mine is mine and yours is yours,” worked well for a time, and at one point people were proud of it. But now it is beginning to feel completely unfair. This is happening because the world is revealing a spiritual layer, and it is becoming clear to everyone that people are inherently unequal. For this reason, not all people can be given the same opportunities: this destroys the society rather than builds it. Opportunities should not be simply equal; they should be equal with regard to one’s personal capabilities, education, and abilities. The less a person is able to do, the more society should help make up for his deficiencies. If you are stronger than me, you should receive less help. This will be fair. After all, we receive our capabilities from Nature, and the compensation for them should come from the society.
The very first colonies of New England shared a common experience. The first colonies included Plymouth and Jamestown, but there were others less well known.
The first years were deperate, with many people dying of starvation.
All of the colonists had arrived with the same idea that all would share equally in the fruits of their labor and all would eat from the common food supply.
But this did not work. It was found that when people were allowed to have their own personal garden plots that these were far more productive than the common efforts.
People just do not work hard when there is no personal benefit to themselves or their family.
The Communists thought they could evolve a new kind of human being, but it did not work. In designing your ideal systems of how things "should" be, you need to consider the reality of how people actually behave.
When people have enough for themselves, they do not let their neighbors starve. At least this is true for Americans.
