King Edward's speech to Lord Mountbatton after resigning as King of England and the whole British Empire:
A kingdom lost and a true love won but England calls me treacherous son! O what a woe to see Old England go and to know upon its shore they think their king a whore! And you, my friend, who fought with me a battle thousand times standing by my side in frontmost rows when canons roared and England deemed us near on defeat's brink! Alas, you, too, will sink with a contemptuous thought on me into your grave of honor and curse the day when I was born on England's beloved soil! Just you who shared the playgrounds with your king when we were little children still! Ah, trusted friend, is this indeed what you may call your very will? You just refuse to shake my lady's hand and when you come her way you leave the room! Why, if this must be my doom! Then let it be my doom! But hear these words I speak to you before you bend and clean your shoe while leaving Buckingham Palace: Ol' England would have been some gray and toothless wife no eagle but a crowd of panic-stricken doves reigned by a king who sees each single day must dawn without the one he truly loves! Such a king he won't be good because he's not made of the blood that lets him rule the land with some quiet and steady hand. (Like he really should!) So, tell me, friend, what love for England's shores is bigger? Yours or mine? If you take a closer look at me - who gave away a kingdom for his love and many friends of old like you who never thought it fine!

King Edward (1894 - 1972) of England fell in love to a woman from the middle class in the USA and voluntarily resigned because of it on 11th December 1936. Although history barely mentions his name he's some kind of a hero in my eyes!
Say, sailor, why don’t you take the helm? The winds are roaring so high the waves and soon they’ll sink your little ship! The water licks around your feet but you just stand there within the bow looking upright at the sea! Row, sailor, row! Alas, my friend, it makes no sense, because you know the one I love just told me she must go!
