Farina Pao Paucar is the Colombian singer/songwriter’s real name. She was born on September 16, 1986 in the city of Medellin, but spent a great part of her childhood in the Colombian coast where her family is from. Her roots extend from Lebanon, Peru to China, and her love for the arts was given to her by her parents’ multicultural backgrounds. Since she was very small she already knew what she wanted out of life and surrounded herself constantly with music. By the age of 4, Farina already composed songs and rehearsed choreographies, sung in churches and won several singing contests in her school. When she was 14 years old she began getting interested in the urban genre and was accepted in a hip-hop group, where in time, she became their leader.
But it was in 2005, when she got national and international recognition with the reality hit show X FACTOR, where more than 45.000 people auditioned and she ended up occupying third place. Her first album as a solo artist, “YO SOY FARINA”, was released in 2006. This album spread all over the country and even reached parts of the US, where it was highly accepted.
Farina has performed in more than 70 concerts and her evolution is more noticeable each day. Her experience has positioned her as the leading female urban artist in the country, and is she who now directs her second musical production with help of Ron Bass, an important Colombian producer, who influences her new album with hip-hop and R&B.
Farina’s new album will soon be released! Hip-hop, R&B, pop and dance hall are the key players in her sound, as well as her new image and choreography. So keep your eyes and ears open for the release of her new single “Hasta el Final”.
